Zonnour: Europe failed to meet Iran's JCPOA expectations

Tehran (IP) - The head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Parliament of Iran criticized Europe's inaction on issues such as the implementation of JCPOA obligations, saying: "Europe has not met the expectations of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the matter of maintaining JCPOA.

Iran PressIran news: Mojtaba Zonnour, Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, met with German Ambassador to Tehran Hans-Udo Muzel in Tehran on Tuesday, referring to the adoption of the Law on Strategic Action to lift Sanctions and Protect the Iranian nation's rights as well as criticizing Europe's inaction on issues such as the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action's commitments.

The MP stated: "If Europe, including Germany, effectively defends its obligations under the JCPOA and resists the US aggression and ongoing crimes in West Asia, and  behaves responsibly, we will have a safe world with a minimum degree of tension and crisis."

Zonnour, stating that the Islamic Republic of Iran has fulfilled all its obligations in accordance with the JCPOA, said: "In the recent law, we have given the parties to this agreement a two-month period to show their good faith to implement their agreements in a tangible way, otherwise, we have obliged the government to take important steps to reduce the obligations of the Iranian side."

The head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran also condemned the double standards of Europe and the West on the issue of having access to nuclear energy, saying: “Europe and the West have discriminatory views on the issue of Iran's nuclear program, so that the Zionist Regime, which has hundreds of nuclear warheads, is free from protest and objection, while the peaceful and scientific activities of the Islamic Republic of Iran in this field are protested.

"Germany supports the continuation of the implementation of the JCPOA and believes that the exact implementation of the nuclear deal by the parties will ensure the interests of all beneficiaries," said German Ambassador to Tehran Hans-Udo Muzel, referring to the JCPOA talks and spending a long time reaching an agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue.
