Tehran (IP) - Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman stated that the Europeans must prove their adherence to the JCPOA by fulfilling their obligations and then Iran will fulfill its obligations as it has announced.

Iran Press/Iran News: Speaking at a weekly presser on Monday, Saeed Khatibzadeh said that a new opportunity has been provided for the Europeans to continue the previous correct path.

“The other side must return to the fulfillment of its obligations and Iran will fulfill its obligations as it has announced,” he added.

The spokesman pointed to the recent remarks of German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas about the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), saying: "Iran's position on the JCPOA is fixed and unchanged. The JCPOA was negotiated once, this agreement was the result of Iran's resistance. It was signed and it is included in Resolution 2231. Iran is not renegotiating the JCPOA.”

Khatibzadeh said: "One of the parties that did not fulfill its obligations was the European parties. The EU's foreign policy chief is responsible for implementing the JCPOA, and countries like Germany have not even been able to meet their commitments which have been stressed in our letters."

Emphasizing that Iran does not negotiate or compromise on its national security, he said: "Iran is aware of its rights and responsibilities and has reminded the rights and commitments of the other side. What was not achieved with maximum pressure is not achieved by other methods.”

Khatibzadeh highlighted: "Sayings and hearings from the elected US government have been seen to correct its wrong method. We hope that Europe will end its path of non-compliance. If that happens, Iran is a responsible country. We do not see the need for new bargaining."

"The natural path is that there is a new opportunity to continue on the right path. The other party should return to the path of fulfilling their obligations. Iran has also said that the reduction measures taken are reversible and Iran is fulfilling its obligations in return for fulfilling the obligations of others.”

Iran responds to regional countries’ request for talks

Regarding the request of several countries in the region to participate in the possible talks, the senior diplomat said that some countries have gambled on their full prestige to achieve their goals during the presidency of the outgoing president of the White House. “They spent their people's money to buy security for a few days. It is clear that they are worried today.”

Khatibzadeh added that Tehran's message to these countries is that Iran is an anchor of stability in the region.

“Iran is a historical country in the region and, like an older brother, has tried to ignore the mistakes of others, but they need to know what their position is and to what extent they can speak.”

Khatibzadeh, in response to a question about the cooperation between Iran and Qatar regarding saffron cultivation, said: "Iran's cooperation with Qatar has different dimensions of relations. All actions are within the instructions. One of the main and original principles of Iran's economic diplomacy is to support domestic producers abroad. Iran-Qatar ties have been at a high level in recent years.”

He also referred to the Saudi Foreign Minister’s recent statement, saying: "Some confusion is seen in some countries and contradictory messages are coming out of these countries. Our advice is for Saudi Arabia and its rulers to pay attention to the problems that they created for their people and the Arab and Islamic world, which can only be solved by correcting their path.”

"Riyadh is responsible for many of the problems of the Arab world, the war and famine in Yemen, and some of the problems from North Africa to Southeast Asia, the senior said and added that they and the Saudi people are better. The Saudi people deserve better policies than they look at the bloody hands of some other countries.
