Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, speaking on behalf of President Masoud Pezeshkian at the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, strongly condemned the recent Israeli and U.S. attacks on Iran and urged BRICS nations to uphold international law and resist growing impunity for the Zionist Regime.

What he’s saying:

Araghchi denounced the June attacks on Iran by Israel and the United States, describing them as an “unprecedented breach of international peace” and a “lethal blow to diplomacy and the rule of law.”

“A peaceful, non-nuclear state was attacked by two nuclear-armed regimes with the support of at least two more. No principle of international law can justify such aggression,” Araghchi said.

He also called on the international community, especially BRICS, to stand firm against Israeli impunity and document and prosecute what he described as war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Key points:

  • Araghchi said Israel’s aggression, supported by the U.S., targeted residential areas, scientists, and civil infrastructure in Iran.
  • Iranian Foreign Minister urged BRICS to become a voice of resistance against lawlessness and unilateralism.
