Iran Press/ Iran news: The Leader of the Islamic Revolution commended the efforts and hard work of the people and government of Iraq in facilitating the successful and grand organization of the Arbaeen pilgrimage, which draws tens of millions of participants.
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei emphasized that pursuing and finalizing working agreements between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Iraq should be a priority in the new phase of bilateral relations.
He praised the generous hospitality of the Iraqi people towards the vast number of pilgrims and the measures taken by the Iraqi government and officials to ensure the security of this major event, describing it as a significant and impressive achievement.
Expressing satisfaction with the Iraqi government's efforts under Mohammad Shia' al-Sudani to address Iraq's challenges, Ayatollah Khamenei commended the coordination and cooperation among Iraq’s political factions and emphasized the need for its continuation.
In this meeting, which was also attended by Mohammad Reza Aref, First Vice President of Iran, the Iraqi Prime Minister congratulated Iran on the successful presidential elections and the election of Masoud Pezeshkian.
He expressed hope that the agreements between Iran and Iraq would be implemented effectively in the new phase.
Mohammad Shia' al-Sudani also appreciated Iran's stance on the crimes committed by the Israeli regime in Gaza. He stated that the Israeli regime has crossed all international and humanitarian red lines, and Iraq's official and public stance on these crimes remains firm and consistent.
Moreover, he provided a report on Iraq’s efforts to ensure the Arbaeen pilgrimage to be held with grandeur and security, emphasizing that this massive event is an opportunity to take a stand against the crimes of the Israeli regime and to educate Muslims, particularly youth, about the principles and teachings of Imam Hussein’s (PBUH) revolt against oppression.
