The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has called on the international community and international organizations to take action to save the lives of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons who are at risk of COVID-19.

Iran PressMiddle East: Hamas spokesman Hazem Qasim said in a statement on Sunday night that the infection of two Palestinian prisoners with the Coronavirus in Israeli prisons is a sign of the medical negligence in the zionist regime's prisons.

Qasim added that this negligence of the Zionist regime is a real danger to the lives of Palestinian prisoners which requires the serious intervention of international institutions.

In this regard; Abdul Nasser Ferwana, head of the research department of the Committee for the Affairs of Palestinian Prisoners of War and Freedoms, also said that 20 Palestinian prisoners had been infected with Coronavirus in Israeli prisons so far.

Ferwana stated that the occupying regime doesn't take the necessary measures to deal with Corona in the prisons and refused to send sanitary and preventive equipment to the prisoners so far.

In recent months, due to the Coronavirus outbreak, Israeli officials have prevented Palestinians from receiving medical supplies such as masks and disinfectants, prompting Palestinian officials to refer to it as a policy of killing Palestinian prisoners intentionally.

Nearly 4,800 Palestinian prisoners are currently being held in Israeli regime's prisons.
