US President Donald Trump arrived in Kenosha, Wis., on Tuesday as hundreds of his opponents poured into the streets, shouting Black Lives Matter.

Defying requests to stay away, Trump arrived in Kenosha to highlight his "law and order" reelection campaign theme in a city upended by protests after the shooting of the Black man Jacob Blake by a White police officer.

The state's governor and the city's mayor both urged Trump to avoid Kenosha to prevent inflaming tensions and allow citizens to heal.

Trump’s motorcade passed throngs of demonstrators carrying signs that read Black Lives Matter.

Trump's visit comes as the family of Blake, faith leaders from 50 organizations, including Rev. Jesse Jackson, held their own event at the site where Blake was shot seven times in the back by a city police officer on Aug. 23. The 29-year-old father was paralyzed from the shooting and remains at a hospital.
