Sharing border with 15 countries makes sanctions ineffective: FM Spox

The Iranian ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan Seyyed Abbas Mousavi said that a country that shares borders with 15 different countries will not be sanctioned under any circumstances.

Iran Press/Iran News: The Iranian ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan and Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Mousavi, in a meeting with the chairman and members of the Tabriz Chamber of Commerce on Thursday night, stated, "In order to eliminate the effects of sanctions, the economic capacities of neighboring countries should be used in the best possible way so that the enemies of the Islamic Republic are aware of the ineffectiveness of sanctions."

He called the expansion of economic and trade relations along with cultural relations with neighboring countries, especially the Republic of Azerbaijan, important, adding that "In this regard, we must use all of our diplomatic power."

Mousavi also referred to the volume of trade exchanges between Tehran and Baku, noting that this volume of economic relations is not in line with the capacities of the two nations, and this capacity should be significantly increased by the efforts of state and private sector officials.

Mousavi called the use of the economic potential of neighboring countries as the most important factor in countering sanctions.
