Iran Press/ Iran News: The Spokesman of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Saturday that the US and the European Troika (UK, Germany, and France) abused the IAEA's Board of Governors for their political purposes despite the Islamic Republic's constructive relations with the IAEA.
The reaction came as the Head of IAEA, Rafael Grossi, issued a statement on Saturday, announcing that Iran reported its decision to cancel the licenses of a number of the most experienced IAEA inspectors who were appointed to verify the activities of the country under the Safeguards agreement for the Non-Proliferation of nuclear weapons.
The Islamic Republic of Iran had earlier warned about the consequences of such political, Nasser Kanaani recalled and said:
"Iran's recent action taken is based on its sovereign rights stipulated in Article 9 of the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement between Iran and the IAEA (INFCIRC 214); the Islamic Republic of Iran expects the Western countries to refrain from their policy of abusing international organizations, including the IAEA, and let the bodies pursue their professional and impartial activities away from any political pressure."
Kanaani reiterated that the Islamic Republic emphasizes the neutrality of the International Atomic Energy Agency and will continue its constructive cooperation within the framework of the agreements made between Iran and the IAEA.
