Tehran (IP) - Iranian Deputy Foreign Ministry for Legal and International Affairs said Iran is ready to negotiate with Ukraine to solve the issue of the Ukrainian plane crash, as soon as possible.

Iran Press/Iran News: In a meeting with the Ukrainian envoy to Iran, Sergei Bordiliac, on Tuesday 9 June, Mohsen Baharvand said Iran is ready to resolve the issue of black boxes related to the plane crash, paying compensation to families of the victims, and other issues in this regard.

The Ukrainian envoy for his part welcomed the Iranian side's offer and stressed that he will immediately report the matter to the relevant Ukrainian authorities and inform the Iranian side of the outcome.

The Boeing 737-800 plane belonging to Ukraine International Airlines crashed near Tehran minutes after the plane had taken-off from Imam Khomeini International Airport in the early hours of January 8.

All the 167 passengers and 9 crew members on board were killed in the tragic incident.

The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces said in a statement that the Ukrainian Boeing 737 plane was shot down due to human error at a time of heightened tensions and a threat of war with the US.
