Iran Press/Iran news: In an interview with Iran Press on the sidelines of a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Mohammad Eslami talked about his mission to Ukraine and what he discussed with senior Ukrainian officials.
The Boeing 737-800 plane belonging to Ukraine International Airlines crashed near Tehran minutes after the plane had taken-off from Imam Khomeini International Airport in the early hours of January 8. All the 167 passengers and 9 crew members on board were killed in the tragic incident.
Iran acknowledged it unintentionally shot down the plane out of human error.
Two days ago, Iran's Minister of Road and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami traveled to Ukraine as president Rouhani's special envoy to convey his message to the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky.
Eslami said: "I have recently traveled to Ukraine to consult about the Ukrainian plane crash. I had meetings with Ukrainian President, the Foreign Minister and also the Minister of Transportation. I conveyed the message of President Rouhani (to his Ukrainian counterpart)."
President Rouhani's special envoy to Kiev added: "On behalf of the Iranian Government and people of Iran, I extended condolences of our nation for this tragic accident. Both of us agreed that the inquiry (investigation) must be completed and we must come to a final result that shows us exactly what happened, the sequence of events which led to this tragic accident and then we can release the final report."
The Minister also answered journalists' questions about an agreement between Iran and Ukraine about the Black Box recorder of the crashed plane. 101/211
