With this approach of the 13th government, the non-oil export development program and expansion of trade relations with Africa boosted, and in the past year and a half, more than fifty official delegations from Africa have traveled to Iran, and various contracts have been concluded.
Despite this, the trade volume between Iran and African countries is growing but far from the target of 10 billion dollars. Currently, Africa's imports have been declared to be nearly 600 billion dollars, but Iran's share of this amount does not reach 2 billion dollars; meanwhile, the fields of cooperation and increasing trade relations between Iran and Africa, especially in the fields of energy, technical-engineering, transportation, agriculture, and mining, are significant and will be achievable by removing the current obstacles.
Alireza Peyman Pak", the head of Iran's Trade Promotion Organization (TPO), said in this regard: "The establishment of regular shipping lines, providing infrastructure, increasing clearance and signing an agreement to reduce trade tariffs, can have a significant impact on the increase of trade between Iran and the African continent."
