Tehran (IP) - The Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) appreciated the Iranian medical community and called the Health Ministry a global leader in fighting against the coronavirus.

Iran Press/Iran news: Commander of IRGC Major General Hossein Salami in a message to Iran’s Health Minister Saeed Namaki said: "Regarding the coronavirus outbreak, while deeply analyzing this unknown phenomenon, the medical community of Iran has provided a safe haven for the prevention of the disease and treatment of people in response to the pandemic threat."

Major General Salami added that the Iranian doctors and nurses are fighting with such a devastating virus with self-sacrifice, protecting the people of the country.

Simultaneously with the Iranian government's preventive and therapeutic measures along with the help of the armed forces, the early detection process, tracking of persons in contact with patients, quarantine, and treatment of people infected with coronavirus and all strata of the Iranian population is rapidly progressing.

Given the latest figures of the Health Ministry, 5979 people from a total of 18407 have recovered from COVID-19 since the outbreak of coronavirus in Iran.

The new respiratory virus, known officially as COVID-19, has spread to every continent except Antarctica as well as every single European country.

There are at least 244,517 diagnosed cases globally and at least 10,030 deaths, according to data compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. Over 86,000 people with diagnosed cases have recovered.
