Iran Press/Iran News: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Indonesian counterpart Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi on Wednesday held a telephone conversation on the latest developments related to the global outbreak of the novel coronavirus.

During the call, Mohammad Javad Zarif referred to the coronavirus outbreak, which has claimed the lives of more than 8,000 people worldwide, emphasizing the need to confront and not to abide by the unilateral, inhuman and unilateral US sanctions against the Iranian nation to combat the disease.

Meanwhile, Iran’s ambassador to France Bahram Qasemi, in separate letters to several top officials and political, parliamentary, cultural and media figures in France, referred to the threat of coronavirus pandemic for the international community and said that unilateral, illegal, inhumane and immoral US sanctions prevent Iran from accessing medical, healthcare and medicine goods or any other financial transaction.

The novel coronavirus, which causes a respiratory disease known as COVID-19, emerged in the central Chinese city of Wuhan in Hubei Province late last year. It has killed nearly 8,300 people globally, and infected over 200,000, according to the World Health Organization.
