Iran's foreign minister and his South African counterpart, consulted on the latest developments of coronavirus spread.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his South African counterpart, Naledi Pandor held a telephone conversation on Tuesday and they consulted on the prevalence of the coronavirus worldwide and the need for all countries to work together to combat the virus.

South African Foreign Minister also expressed the readiness of her country to boost bilateral cooperation in the fight against COVID-19, Iran Press reported.

Zarif thanked her and emphasized the need for the non-observing US illegal sanctions against Iran.

The new virus, that causes a respiratory disease known as COVID-19, emerged in the central Chinese city of Wuhan in Hubei Province late last year.

Iran's Health Ministry Spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour said that 5,389 people have recovered in total from the Coronavirus.

It has swept into at least 165 countries, infected more than 198,513 and killed at least 7,988 people worldwide.
