Iran Press/Iran news: Chief Commander of the IRGC Major General Hossein Salami made the remarks Monday at a meeting with IRGC commanders in various cities via video-conference, saying: "IRGC along with the devoted and faithful medical staff, have managed to suppress the first wave of the virus."
The IRGC Commander said: "The IRGC has adapted its work on the basis of geographical expansion, and we have reached a situation where the country has recovered today to contain this phenomenon and has developed protocols to deal with this issue."
Major General Salami said that the IRGC has granted its facilities to people after the coronavirus outbreak, adding: "I thank all of the doctors and medical staff for their support in the fight against coronavirus and I assure people that we can defeat the virus if most people cooperate and we ask people to stay home and observe health issues."
"We hope with a nation-wide coordinated act in the fight against the coronavirus, and with the help of families and health staff, we will defeat the virus," Salami concluded.
The new virus, that causes a respiratory disease known as COVID-19, emerged in the central Chinese city of Wuhan in Hubei Province late last year. It has killed more than 6,500 worldwide, according to an estimate from Johns Hopkins University, which is tracking cases reported by the World Health Organization and additional sources.
In Iran, 4996 patients from all 14,991 infected patients diagnosed to coronavirus so far, have recovered and discharged from hospitals across the country.
