The presidents of Iran and France spoke by phone about the latest developments in the region and the growing dangers posed by ongoing U.S.-Israeli war on Iran.

Why it matters:

They talk about a war the U.S. waged on the whole region, but on the world, for the sake of serving the Israeli expansionist ambitions.

The big picture:

This is the second time in just nine months that Iran has been attacked while in the middle of negotiations.

What they're saying:

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian warned that turning a blind eye to Israel's criminal behavior will only encourage more aggression, making the region and the world even more unstable, and the U.S. and other backers of Israel are directly responsible.

He made it clear that Tehran is determined to defend its territorial integrity and sovereignty, adding that the international community has both a moral and legal responsibility to speak out against the U.S.-Israeli unlawful strikes and the killing of civilians.

French President Emmanuel Macron said Paris has already condemned the U.S. and Israeli strikes and is ready to do whatever it takes to get diplomacy back on track.

Go deeper:

Some European countries ignor the real source of the crisis, that is the U.S. and Israeli aggression against Iran. Any tolerance for such violations will only weaken international norms and the rule of law.
