Japan offers condolences over quake in Iran

Japanese Ambassador to Iran expressed condolences the death of Iranian people in East Azerbaijan's earthquake.

Iran Press/Iran News: Japanese Ambassador to Iran Mitsuo Saito on Sunday offered condolences to Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on the death of a number of Iranians in a recent earthquake in East Azerbaijan province.

Mitsuo Saito in a message expressed his condolences to the Iranian government, the nation and the families of those killed in the earthquake. He also wished good health for injured people.

A 5.9 magnitude earthquake hit the city of Tark in Mianeh, East Azerbaijan Province of Iran on Friday morning. At least 6 people killed and 500 others injured in this quake.

Iran's national military and other officials are currently present in the earthquake-affected areas.

According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), some 20 million people felt the quake across Iran and possibly in neighboring Turkey.
