Iran Deputy Foreign Minister,Seyyed Abbas Araghchi

Deputy Foreign Minister reiterated that the only solution to the current deadlock over Iran's nuclear agreement 2015 is to lift illegal sanctions and return to diplomacy, saying no one should question Iran for reducing commitments to the agreement.

Iran Press/ Asia: Speaking in Tokyo on Monday (Dec. 2), Seyyed Abbas Araghchi said: "Iran's nuclear agreement 2015 known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is not just an Iran-US agreement but it is a political win-win agreement reached through a constructive international agreement."

"We believe that JCPOA is a successful international experience to solve other regional and global problems. The United States not only withdrew from the international agreement but also pressured other countries remaining in the agreement to withdraw," he added, Iran Press reported.

Araghchi stated, "Before reducing its commitments, Iran was abiding by the agreement because other countries asked us. They had said that they would make up damages of the US withdrawal, so Iran didn't decrease its commitment for a year, but Europeans couldn't."

Asked about Russia's role in the region, Iran's deputy foreign minister said that Russia as a world power and a member of the UN Security Council had an important role in the world and international affairs. Russia along with China had a great influence on the formation and continuity of the JCPOA.
