Tehran (IP) - Deputy Chief of Iran's Army for Coordination said the Iranian Army forces did defend not only the Iranian soil but the Islamic causes and values, during the 8-year imposed war of the Iraqi Ba'athist regime.

Iran PressIran News: Following the invasion of the Iraqi Baath Regime at Khorramshahr on October 25, 1980, the city could defend for 34 days before its fall. But, Iranian soldiers carried out the great operation of Beit-ol-Moqaddas and succeeded in liberating Khorramshahr on May 24, 1982.

On the occasion of the Liberation of Khorramshahr, this day called Resistance and Sacrifice Day in Iran, a group of senior commanders of the Army attended the Mausoleum of the Late Founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran Imam Khomeini to renew allegiance with his Revolution causes.  

Speaking at a ceremony to commemorate the anniversary of Khorramshahr Liberation on May 24, 1982. (Khordad 3 1361 AH in Persian Calendar) from the Ba'athist regime of Saddam, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari talked about Operation Beit ol-Moqaddas to liberate Khorramshahr.

Admiral Sayyari said that the enemy realized the authority of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Operation Beit-ol-Moqaddas which took 26 days long and where 19,000 Ba'athist enemies were killed and 16,000 more were captured.

He addressed the enemies of the Islamic Republic of Iran and stressed that they must beware that the Iranian nation was honored to follow the path of their martyrs.
