Iran's Government Spokesman referred to the release of the oil tanker Grace 1 as another defeat of the US and a victory for Iran's active diplomacy.

Iran Press/Iran news"Grace 1 oil tanker was released from the illegal arrest despite all US' attempts, pressures, and acts of sabotage-which are still continuing- and a further failure was recorded for the White House," Ali Rabiee wrote in his tweeter account.

He noted that the victory is the result of Iran's authority and insistence on its people's rights, reported Iran Press.

The Iranian oil tanker 'Grace 1' was seized by the British-controlled local government of Gibraltar on July 4, was released on Thursday and given to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Grace 1 was carrying 2.1 million barrels of Iranian crude oil when it was seized illegally by Britain's Royal Marines off the coast of Gibraltar Strait under the pretext that the supertanker had been suspected of carrying crude to Syria in breach of the European Union’s unilateral sanctions against the Arab country.

Tehran rejected the claim that the tanker was heading to Syria, slamming the seizure as “maritime piracy.”
