Iranian teenage chess player, Arian Gholami, clinched third place in World Youth Chess championship

Iranian teenage chess player Arian Gholami finished third in the under-18 section of the World Youth Chess Championship in India on Thursday.

Iran Press/Asia: The Iranian squad consisted of Parnian Ghomi (Girls U12), Arash Daghli (U16), Arian Gholami (U18), Anousha Mahdian (Girls U16), Vesal Hamedi Nia (Girls U18), and Tannaz Azali (Girls U18).

In third round of the tournament, Arian Ghoalmi, Anousha Mahdian, Vesal Hamedi Nia, and Tannaz Azali defeated their rivals; and Arian Gholami was ranked 3rd, co-leading the top-seeded players, Iran Press reported.

World Youth Chess championship 2019 is taking place from 1 - 13 October 2019 in Mumbai, India.

465 chess players from sixty-three countries are taking part in the prestigious event of World Chess Calendar for Under-14, Under-16, and Under-18 players. The Islamic Republic of Iran is participating in the tournament with a team of 6 players. 101/211/204
