Iran Press/Europe: Sheikh Issa Ghaseem in his sermon talked about Velayat of Imam Ali, the first Shia Imam, and concept of Imamat (Islamic Government) and in the special event of Ghadeer Khumm.
Eid al-Ghadeer Khumm, a major festivity, celebrates the divine appointment of Ali ibn Abi Talib (PBUH) as Prophet Mohammad's (blessings of God upon him and his progeny) vicegerent and immediate successor after the passing away of the Holy Prophet.
It marks the anniversary of Prophet Mohammad's (PBUH) sermon, described in Hadith of the pond of Khumm, in which he raised Ali's hand and said: "Whomsoever I am his master (Maula), Ali is also his (Maula) master. O' God, love those who love him, and be hostile to those who are hostile to him."
