The United States has vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution for a ceasefire in Israel’s war on Gaza, accusing the other 14 council members of cynically rejecting attempts at reaching a compromise, Aljazeera reported.
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli regime has massacred more than 47,000 people in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon under the pretext of destroying Hamas and liberation of the Israelis taken captive by the Palestinian resistance group in the historic Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.
The draft resolution proposed by Algeria, Ecuador, Japan, Mozambique, Malta, South Korea, Sierra Leone, Slovenia, Switzerland and Guyana for the immediate ceasefire in Gaza was supposed to be addressed in a UNSC session chaired by the UK's representative Barbara Woodward on Wednesday evening.
About 66 people have been killed and more than 100 others wounded, in an Israeli attack on a residential neighbourhood near the Kamal Adwan Hospital in the north of the Gaza Strip on Thursday early morning.
