America: According to an Iran Press report, in his executive order Donald Trump wrote: "I am continuing for 1 year the national emergency with respect to Iran declared in Executive Order 12170."
Ever since the first presidential order was issued on 14 November 1979, successive US administrations have renewed its stipulations year after year.
On November 5, the Iranian foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, has said the Trump administration in addition to violating international laws, is actually pressuring other countries, encouraging them to violate international laws.

The executive order gives the US president the option of confiscating or seizing of Iranian assets and funds.
The United States has up to now confiscated billions of dollars worth of Iranian assets and funds illegally and unlawfully, using "the 1979 executive order as an excuse".
The names of more than 700 Iranian individuals, institutions, banks, firms and companies have been included in a new list of US sanctions against Iran. A second round of US sanctions came into force on 5 November 2018, targeting primarily Iran's energy and banking sectors.

Meanwhile, America's treasury secretary Steven Mnuchin has claimed the 'maximum pressure campaign' and re-imposition of sanctions will force Iran to come to the negotiating table and sign a new nuclear agreement.
Also on November 5, US secretary of state Mike Pompeo took the podium at the State Department’s Foreign Press Center in Washington, and admitted that Washington had failed to get the main buyers of Iranian oil to tag along, and had to grant temporary waivers to Iraq, China, India, South Korea, Turkey, Italy, Greece, Japan and Taiwan.
Meanwhile, Iran's UN ambassador Gholamali Khoshroo wrote a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, asking him to hold US accountable over imposition of illegal sanctions against Iran.
Re-imposing sanctions on Iran showed that Washington is not capable of working within the international community, and that US is opposed to multilateralism. This important point has been made in ambassador, Gholam-ali Khoshroo's letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

America's unilateral sanctions are in contravention of United Nations Security Council UNSC decisions, and the judgment of the International Court of Justice (ICJ). The US is not only violating UN Security Council Resolution 2231, but it is also putting pressure on other countries to violate the resolution.
US President Donald Trump withdrew Washington from the nuclear agreement in May and reintroduced sanctions on Iran in August. The second wave of sanctions, which targets Iran’s oil exports and central bank, is due to start in early November.
