First vice president, Eshagh Jahangiri, on Tuesday, speaking at a ceremony introducing new and former ministers of industry, mines and trade at the Tehran International Fair, said: "Sanctions were the first political demonstration of Iran's victory over the United States."

Iran Press/America: According to an Iran Press report, Jahangiri said sanctions were the first political demonstration of Iran's victory over  the US.

He added: "In the past, when the United States imposed sanctions, Europe and the Security Council also went along with the US and imposed their own sanctions, but this time, nobody is getting on board, and both Europe and the United Nations are resisting America's unilateralism. Europe wants to show its political and economic independence from the US.

Jahangiri added: "The US by means of psychological  war is trying to pressure us, cause problems for our economy, however the United States is now isolated and lonely, almost no country has officially supported the US sanctions against Iran with the exception of the Zionist regime and a couple of puppet regimes in this region."

He stressed that Iran has fulfilled all its commitments in JCPOA, but the United States imposed illegal anti-Iran sanctions.

Iran's fist vice president said: "US sanctions are against the people of Iran, and the poor and vulnerable strata of  society are more affected by US pressure."

He also said that the government does not aim to impose a new pressure on the people and we are not pleased to hang on the control policies in foreign exchange as well as export and import.

Jahangir said the best solution for import and export issues is to not interfere with administrative burdens. He emphasized: "With close examination, we know today's currency rate is not real.

Emphasising on production as the main issue in today's Iran economy, the first vice president added manufacturing enterprises have to continue their activities with more impetus and this is the most significant sign of the failure of the United States.

France, Germany, Britain and the European Union issued a joint condemnation of the United States’ move to place fresh sanctions on the Iranian economy, vowing to protect European companies doing "legitimate" business with Tehran.

Second round of US sanctions targets Iran's oil and financial sectors, and came into force on 5 November.

The US Treasury Department added 700 individuals, companies, banks, aircraft and Iranian ships to its sanctions list.
