Reza Najafi remarks was about the Second Session of the Preparatory Committee of 2020 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
"Overall the Preparatory Committee for Review Conferences sessions is a place for discussion and in other words it's a place for creating a content for discussions for its' own use. There is no place for decision making in the Preparatory Committee", the Iranian Ambassador noted.
"In the beginning of Geneva general session, countries conferred their position and then they came to some specific discussions", Najafi added.
"Most of the statements which has been released, especially those from the non-nuclear countries, confer their distress about failure to achieve one of the main goals of the Treaty which is creating a world without nuclear weapons", the Iranian Ambassador said.
"Countries criticized nuclear powers for not following their commitments under the Treaty", Najafi noted.
"Nuclear powers not only did not abide by the treaty but also allocated billions of dollars to renovate and to develop their nuclear weapons", the Iranian Ambassador added.
"Even some countries have projects to build new nuclear weapons in small sizes which are ready to use, and that makes international community worried", Najafi concluded.
