Iran Press/Asia: Seyed Abbas Araghchi, heading a delegation has traveled to Afghanistan with the aim of pursuing agreements, especially finalizing the text of the comprehensive document on strategic cooperation between two sides, in a meeting with Hanif Atmar on Wednesday evening expressed hope that the talks and the peace process in Afghanistan begin as soon as possible.
Araqchi stressed the importance of preserving the achievements of the Afghan people after the fourteen years of war, especially the constitution and the democratic structures created in the country during the peace talks, and the facilitating role of neighboring countries in this regard.
Iran's top diplomat also emphasized the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to assist the Government of Afghanistan in advancing the peace process.
During the meeting, regional and international issues and problems, including the Coronavirus, as well as bilateral and multilateral economic cooperation on Chabahar and Central Asian transit routes were discussed.
The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for political affairs and the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan also agreed on a roadmap and a timetable for finalizing the comprehensive cooperation document.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi has scheduled to hold talks with Afghan officials on defense, security, economics, and transit issues.
Negotiations on a comprehensive document on strategic cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Afghanistan are among the goals of Araghchi's visit to Kabul.
Meeting with Afghan government officials and participating in a roundtable discussion at the Afghanistan Office of Strategic Studies are other plans of the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister in Kabul.
