Iran's Zarif stresses on territorial integrity of Syria, warns against foreign interference
IP - Geneva: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Tuesday stressed on territorial integrity of Syria, saying Iran and Russia's presence in Syria is at the invitation of Syrian people and government.
Iran Press/ Europe: "It is important to insist on the territorial integrity of Syria," he said at a joint press conference in Geneva with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Turkish foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.
Speaking following a meeting of Astana Process members with his Russian and Turkish counterparts, Zarif also said there is no military solution to the crisis in Syria which he added has only a political solution.
He also warned against the meddling of foreign countries in reaching a peaceful settlement in Syria while Astana Process members are negotiating the formation of the Constitutional Review Committee.
Iran and Russia are in Syria at the invitation of Syrian people and government, he replied to a question.
