Rome (IP) - The supporters of Palestine and the people of Italy, by condemning the genocide of the oppressed people in the Gaza Strip, urged Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's government to stop supporting the Zionist regime.

Iran Press/Europe:  According to Iran Press, thousands of people marched in the central streets of Rome, the capital of Italy, on Saturday evening, while holding the Palestinian flag and banners in support of the residents of the Gaza Strip, chanting anti-government slogans.

Margherita Candelli, an Italian pro-Palestinian activist, told the Iranpress reporter in Rome: "We participated in this demonstration to protest the warmongering policies of Meloni's government."

This pro-Palestinian activist strongly criticized the continued dispatch of weapons by Italy to Israel and Ukraine, and considered it the main reason for the expansion of the war in the region, adding: "The Italian government supports the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza."

Margherita Candelli added: "The positions of the Italian people are different from the government and we support the oppressed Palestinian nation and demand an immediate ceasefire."

Demonstrators also supported the Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip by chanting slogans.

Also, last Friday evening, nearly a thousand students sat in front of the main gate of the University of Rome, demanding an immediate stop to the crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza.

Hundreds of students at the University of Rome laid down on the street to protest the killings in the Gaza Strip.
