Iran Press/ Iran news: In a session to discuss the regional issues with the Majlis representatives on Tuesday, Chief of the general staff of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Major General Mohammad Bagheri called for a budget increase to boost the countries defense capabilities.
In the session which the rest of it was a closed meeting, the Iranian General delivered a report on the latest developments and the performance of the Islamic Republic’s Armed Forces.
On the sidelines of the session, a Majlis MPs quoted Major General Bagheri as calling for a budget increase for the military sector in a bid to boost the country’s defense capabilities against different threats.
In these discussions, Bagheri also pointed to some problems and limits of Iranian Armed forces in defense and stressed on the military and defense capabilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as our country's full readiness to face any threat.
Another MP quoted Major General Bagheri as saying that in the Atlantic Ocean, a number of US warships were threatening Iranian tankers to escalate tensions, however, they were unable to achieve their goal.
"On their rout to Venezuelan ports, the Americans had many entrapments, including bribing and threatening to divert the Iranian tankers and take control of them, which in no way resulted in anything," the chief of staff said at a closed-door session of parliament. 212/ 104
