Tehran (IP) - Ministry of Health and Medical Education announced that so far, 118, 392 people in the country have definitely been infected with coronavirus among whom 93,147 have recovered.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iran's Ministery of Health and Medical Education Spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour on Tuesday 16 May presented the latest statistics regarding the coronavirus.

Jahanpour said: "According to the reports by laboratories across the country from yesterday to May 16, 1,757 new patients with COVID-19 were diagnosed in which the total number of infected people reaches 118,392." 

Among those number of people infected, 93,147 patients have recovered and have been discharged so far, Jahanpour added.

The Spokesman said, "Unfortunately, in the past 24 hours, 35 COVID-19 patients have lost their lives which is the least number during the last two months.

"Overall 6,937 people have lost their lives in the country to date," the health official said.

He stated, "2,716 patients are in a critical condition."

"So far, 672,679 COVID-19 diagnosis tests have been conducted in the country," according to the spokesman.

The situation in Khuzestan province is still red, and this province also has the highest number of hospitalizations and screenings, the official added.

Among the new patients, 325 were hospitalized and 1,432 were outpatients.
