Commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran\\\'s Border Guards Brigadier General Qasem Rezaei

Tehran (IP): Commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Border Guards stated that the border guards of Iran have an effective role in the security of the Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman.

Iran Press/Iran News: Brigadier General Qasem Rezaei traveled to Hormozgan Province in southern Iran on Wednesday to review the latest situation on Persian Gulf borders and assess the operational readiness of border guards.

Referring to the complete security of all Iranian borders, the commander said, "The border guards of the Islamic Republic of Iran have an effective role in the security of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman."

He also noted the borders of the Persian Gulf are managed with authority and intelligence of Iranian border guards.

National Persian Gulf Day is an official holiday in Iran that takes place on the 10th of Ordibehesht, the second month on the Iranian calendar – usually occurring on 29 or 30 April  - which is the anniversary of the victory over Portuguese troops during a war in the Persian Gulf in 1622.
