Tehran (IP) - The Deputy Minister of Legal and International Affairs of the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced today that a new round of talks between Iran and three European countries will be held in Geneva on January 13.

Iran Press/Iran News: Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy Minister of Legal and International Affairs of Iran, said: We are not one to predict. We must enter into talks to see what will happen. These are talks, not negotiations. To clarify issues and further consultations to see what method, framework, and methodology will be used if negotiations are to take place.

Regarding the assassination of Martyr Soleimani, Gharibabadi said: What has been done in the follow-up related to the terrorist crime of martyrdom of General Soleimani is being carried out within the framework of international law and based on the 1973 Convention on the Immunities of Officials and Diplomats.

He added: The convention process is complex and time-consuming. First, the victim country must file a lawsuit, then the two countries enter into negotiations within the framework of the convention, and if the victim country is not satisfied, they enter into other phases and arbitration discussions, and if the victim country does not reach its satisfaction after open arbitration, the mechanism of referring to the International Court of Justice is foreseen within the framework of the convention.

In response to the Iran Press reporter regarding the FATF re-examination, Gharibabadi also said: I saw news that the Supreme Leader has agreed to this issue, naturally, if this issue is placed on the agenda of the Expediency Discernment Council, the outcome of its work should be whether Iran's accession to the conventions in question is based on the country's interest or not. If it is confirmed, naturally, a series of measures will be taken and the issue of ratification will be facilitated.

The Deputy Legal Affairs Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified: The government's opinion on this issue is clear, and the fact that both the honorable president and the Minister of Economy have followed up on this issue means that the consideration of joining these two conventions should be placed on the agenda of the Expediency Discernment Council. We hope that the reviews will be carried out based on the interests and benefits of the system and the people.
