Tehran (IP) - Government spokesman Ali Rabiei has noted that Iran faces the simultaneous challenge of sanctions and Corona.

Iran PressIran News: Speaking at his first press conference in the new year via video conference Rabiei added: "At the beginning of the new year, the world faces the challenge of Coronavirus spreading disease, but in Iran, the challenge is an alliance of Corona and sanctions simultaneously and our first goal is to break this alliance."

He stressed, "Our first national task is to break the unity of sanctions and the Coronavirus and to achieve that we must accept the fact that living under the shadow of sanctions and the Coronavirus requires a new lifestyle in economic relations, social relations, and international arrangements."

Rabiei said the government is trying to take advantage of all the national opportunities to meet the challenges to reduce the effects of cruel sanctions and not allow Coronavirus to disrupt our lives.

"In response to the Corona crisis, all governments in the world face two challenges, one in the field of citizen treatment, and the second in adopting mechanisms to tackle social and economic problems," government spokesman Ali Rabiei added.

The spokesman said: "Our effort has been to put control and containment of the disease right from the beginning by gaining a proper understanding of the corona and trying to be one step ahead of it."

"The common challenges of Coronavirus was that all the countries were surprised because all of them didn't have a human experience," Rabiei added.

"We increased the hospital beds," Rabiei said, adding: "We now have 13,000  empty hospital beds. We have developed a National Screening Plan. Nearly 60 million people have been screened to date, which is one of the few in the world."

"Every country in the world made decisions based on its socio-political and cultural characteristics. We made decisions as soon as we faced, ahead of some countries. We tried to create a model that respects both physical distance and people's daily lives. So more stringent decisions were made under the circumstances," Rabiei underscored.

Referring to the unparalleled effort of the medical staff to fight Corona, the spokesman stated: "Today, we Iranians must look to the future with a new national resolve and with new decisions. We certainly need a new style of life in the future. In consumption, social interactions, the bureaucracy, the bureaucratic pattern we have to assume the most pessimistic scenarios of policymaking necessary for social and economic adaptation to the situation."
