Niamey (IP) - With the withdrawal of the last group of French soldiers from Niamey, the country's military presence in Niger has come to an end.

Iran PressAfrica: The withdrawal of the last group of French soldiers took place late on Friday in a ceremony attended by Niger's senior military commanders at the 110 Niamey Air Base. The withdrawal started in October 2023.

After the military government took office in Niger, the people demonstrated in Niamey, the capital, demanding the end of the political and military presence of France in their country, and Friday, December 22, the historic victory has been achieved.

The French military and cargo planes left Niger, marking a new phase in the country's political history.
