The Head of Yemen’s Supreme Revolutionary Committee called on the UN and its Security Council to act for stopping the Saudi coalition’s war on Yemen so that it could counter the coronavirus outbreak.

Iran Press/Middle East: Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, the head of the Yemeni Revolutionary High Council wrote on his Twitter account on Monday that coronavirus has spread worldwide and is a threat to humanity.

He said Yemen demands the UN Security Council and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to prevent the Saudi’s aggression on the Yemeni nation and end the blockade on the country.

Hours after his request, Guterres said in a message: "Today I am calling for an immediate global ceasefire in all corners of the world."

"It is time to put the armed conflict on lockdown and focus together on the true fight of our lives – the COVID-19 pandemic," he stressed.

Earlier, the Secretary-General of Yemen’s Ansarullah Movement had said that cholera and other contagious diseases can spread worldwide due to many reasons but the US along with some other countries have large labs where they can produce lethal viruses against people.

Yemen is of the few countries where coronavirus has not spread, yet it is coping with such diseases as cholera, canine influenza, and diphtheria.

The UN has stressed on supplying clean water in Yemen to prevent coronavirus from entering the country.
