Iran’s ambassador thanks Oman for facilitating air travel to Iran

Iranian ambassador to Oman Mohammad Reza Noori Shahroudi appreciated Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and the country’s Foreign Ministry for facilitating air travel to Iran, which were temporarily canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Iran PressMiddle East: Reza Noori Shahroudi said: “Thanks to the efforts made by senior Omani officials and the Foreign Ministry of Oman, good cooperation has been maintained to allow flights to resume after their cancellation.”

According to a report by IRNA news agency, he also appreciated Oman's efforts in transferring stranded passengers, and those who were due to board canceled flights, to other Persian Gulf states.

The facilities provided by the Iranian and Omani organizations paved the way for transferring stranded passengers in Muscat airport to Iran, he added.

Noori Shahroudi emphasized that passengers could now catch a flight from any Persian Gulf state, including from the city of Dubai, to Muscat international airport and then onwards to Iran.

Over the last few days, various permissions were issued for transfer of passengers including Omani citizens and Iranian nationals living in the Persian Gulf States to Muscat International Airport from where they can catch a connecting flight to Shiraz, Mashad or Tehran.

Earlier, head of the Iranian Health Ministry's public relations office said on Sunday that the coronavirus death toll has gone up to 54 in Iran, out of a total 987 confirmed cases of coronavirus infection.

Speaking to reporters, Kianoush Jahanpour said 175 infected people had fully recovered and discharged from hospitals.

Jahanpour also said 385 new cases of the virus had been detected since Saturday noon. 205/211/207
