Tehran (IP) - Mohammad Asaii, head of the Documentation Committee for Combating Coronavirus, said that INSTEX alone can not meet Iran's needs in the fight against COVID-19 and joint efforts are needed by all countries.

Iran PressIran News: Head of the Documentation Committee for Combating Coronavirus Mohammad Asaii, via video-conference discussed the implementation of the EU-Iran trading mechanism INSTEX saying, "This system will not meet the country's needs for combating Coronavirus sanctions should be lifted with the help of international organizations sooner because it is a matter of human health, and all countries must tackle with Coronavirus pandemic in a joint effort. 

Regarding the reports about the deaths of some Afghan nationals in the country, he said: "I do not have exact statistics on the number of Afghan deaths in Iran, it may have happened. But providing health services to foreign nationals such as Afghanistanis and Pakistanis is free of charge according to the National Task Force for Combating Coronavirus.

He also referred to the request of Iranians residing in some countries to return and added, "a group of thirty Iranians residing in Italy had requested a repatriate to home and that there would be sufficient cooperation if individuals wanted to return."

Iran is ready to share our experiences with others fighting

Mohammad Asaii said, "From the outset of disease detection in the country, safety measures in the air border areas and Land was used. A large number of Pakistani and Afghan pilgrims entered the country from the eastern border, where quarantines were carried out on both sides of the border and screening began."

"Both people coming from Pakistan to Iran and Afghans returning to their homeland after the pilgrimage was screened at the borders. Suspicious and confirmed cases were quarantined and others returned to their homelands."

"When these people entered Afghanistan and Pakistan, they were also screened and followed for up to 14 days," Asaii said.

"The Ministry of Health and Medical Education worked very closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs," he said. We have had three meetings with the embassies so far, justifying our plans, and identifying hospitals for families of embassy staff and citizens of other countries living in Iran," the official noted.

"We took this opportunity to work with countries and benefit from the experiences of other countries, communicate with China, the World Health Organization, and collecting articles and research on the process," said Asaii.

"We also have good experiences in dealing with Corona disease in the country, and we will share our experiences with the world which are good experiences according to the World Health Organization," he highlighted.
