Tehran (IP) - Health Ministry Spokesman, Kianoush Jahanpour said that 175 patients infected by the new coronavirus have so far recovered from the disease.

Iran Press/Iran news: Health Ministry Spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour in his daily press conference on Sunday 1 March held at the Ministry of Health and Medical Education said that 385 new cases of Coronavirus infection diagnosed during the past 24 hours.

Health Ministry Spokesman also said that 11 more people died because of the novel Coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

He went on to say that 175 people cured in total so far.

Given the latest figures of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, the total number of people diagnosed with the Coronavirus has been reached 978 people, out of whom 54 people died.

According to Jahanpour among 978 infected cases, 170 case diagnosed in Tehran, 44 in Markazi, 31 in Alborz, 30 in Qom, 28 in Gilan, 17 in Razavi Khorasan, 13 in Isfahan, 3 in Hamedan, 11 in Mazandaran, 3 in Semnan, 8 in Lorestan, 2 in South Khorasan, 2 in Hormozgan, 9 in Khuzestan, 8 in Fars, 1 in Ilam, 2 in Kerman, 2 in Kermanshah, and 1 in Sistan and Baluchestan.

Iran has temporarily shut down schools, universities, and other education centers, and canceled all the public gatherings like concerts and sports events to help curb the disease.

The novel coronavirus has killed more than 2,900 people worldwide, the vast majority in mainland China. There have been more than 85,000 global cases, with infections on every continent except Antarctica.

The virus continued to spread around the world on Saturday with countries in Europe announcing new cases, Iran revealing another jump in infections, and Qatar becoming the latest Middle Eastern country to report its first case.
