Iran Press/Iran news: According to the statement a Ukrainian Boeing 737-800 aircraft UR-PSR registered with 180 passengers on board took off from Iran's Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran at 6:12 am Wednesday morning but crashed at 6:18 pm near Saba Shahr, Tehran due to technical problems.
Meanwhile, Director of the Center for Communication and Information of Iran’s Ministry of Roads and Urban Development Qasem Biniaz said that the engine of the Ukrainian plane that crashed near Parand city in Tehran province had caught fire just after take-off.
Biniaz said that there were both citizens of Iran and other countries among the passengers.
The aircraft had 167 passengers and 9 crew members on board, and initial reports indicate all onboard the plane were killed, the statement of the Civil Aviation Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran added.
Most of the passengers on board were nationals of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and travelers from other nations were also on the flight.
Investigation and rescue teams have been dispatched to the site of the accident. An investigation team has been set up to meet international standards and the process of data collection.
