Iran Press/Iran News: Agriculture's Minister advisor Mohsen Zeinali said every year between one and two thousand hectares are added to the country's saffron crop, but it has been planned to increase production per unit area for the coming years.
Noting that 85 to 90 percent of Iran's Saffron is produced in North Khorasan, South Khorasan, and Razavi Khorasan, east and northeast of Iran, Zeinali said that due to the consecutive drought in the country, farmers have decided to take their land under cultivation of saffron, Iran Press reported.
In recent years, good measures have been adopted in processing, mechanization, quality of Saffron onion and Saffron flowers, so that consumption of the product in the food industries has increased compared to previous years, he added. 101
