Iran, Russia, China, Cuba, North Korea, Iraq, Venezuela and Nicaragua’s envoys to the UN warned the international body over the negative impact of sanctions on the control of the Coronavirus outbreak.

Iran PressAmerica: In a letter to the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Iran, Russia, China, Cuba, North Korea, Iraq, Venezuela and Nicaragua’s envoys to the UN said that unilateral sanctions which are against international law, have made it difficult for the countries to fight against the Coronavirus.

The letter added that political calculation should not be allowed to impede saving lives.

"With sanctions, national governments' ongoing efforts to combat Coronavirus are undermined, particularly with regard to the effective and timely provision of medical supplies, including test kits and medicines needed to treat patients," the letter said, stressing that the anti-corona campaign needs the highest level of solidarity and cooperation.

Iran, Russia, China, Cuba, North Korea, Iraq, Venezuela and Nicaragua’s envoys to the UN called on the Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for the immediate and complete abolition of such illegal, coercive and arbitrary economic pressure. 104/207
