Two attackers struck a Shia mosque in Afghanistan on Sunday, killing at least one person and wounding eight others.

The two attackers targeted a Shia mosque in the western Afghan city of Herat, but security guards managed to shoot and kill one of them, whilst the other blew himself up before reaching a hall where worshipers were praying, according to Jilani Farhad, a spokesman for the provincial governor.

The casualty toll was confirmed by a local deputy police chief,  Aminullah Amin.  The area around the mosque has been cordoned off by police officers, and ambulances are rushing victims to hospitals in the city of Herat.

Meanwhile, Daesh Terrorists have claimed responsibility for the bomb attack. It should be noted that a group affiliated to Daesh claimed an attack in Kabul, the Afghan capital, last Wednesday, in which at least 33 people were killed, and dozens more were wounded, many of them teenagers.
