Iran Press/ Iran News: Signing scientific cooperation and the meeting of students with the professors of the universities of the Caucasus region were the most important parts of the two-day meeting (June 10 and 11, 2023) of the heads of scientific centers.
Regarding the establishment and members of the union, the head of the International Union of the Caucasus Region Universities Ramazan Korkmaz told IranPress reporter that the union's establishment in 2009 was a turning point for the interaction of scientific centers. The union was primarily established with three countries and seven universities, but now the number of its members has reached 172 universities from 10 countries.
Korkamaz cited the expansion of the International Union of Universities of the Caucasus region as the beginning of scientific developments among the countries of the region.
President of Yalova State University in Istanbul Mehmet Bahçekapili, reminding the ancient civilization of the universities in the Caucasus Region, told IranPress reporter that universities of the International Union of Caucasus Region should know each other's scientific capacities.
Referring to the Islamic background of Iran and Türkiye, Bahçekapili noted that Iran and Türkiye play major historical and cultural roles in the world, and both countries should pay more attention to their ancient civilization.
President of Bilim University of Antalya İsmail Yüksek in an interview with IranPress correspondent noted that the presence of the universities of the Caucasus region in an international union improves their scientific status.
Yüksek stressed the role of the International Union of Universities of the Caucasus region in establishing peace in the world and emphasized that to establish peace in the world, students should enjoy significant scientific progress which will be provided by the union.
President of Doğu Akdeniz State University of Northern Cyprus Aykut Hocanin, in an interview with IranPress reporter, stated that the International Union of Universities of the Caucasus Region has improved cultural and educational relations between Iran and Northern Cyprus.
