Iran Press/ Iran news: Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mehrdad Bazrpash, announced the conclusion of an agreement with Iraq for the Shlamcheh-Basra railway section last March, on the sidelines of a meeting and discussion with Iraqi Transport Minister Razzaq Muhibis Al-Saadawi
According to Iran Press, in this regard, the Islamic Republic of Iran Railway announced today (Sunday) that during the trip and visit of the CEO and the technical team of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railway, the memorandum of understanding on the operational measures of the Shalamcheh-Basra railway project in a meeting attended by the CEO and the senior officials of the Iranian and Iraqi railways as well as the political officials in the Iranian consulate in Basra were convened and signed by the parties.
According to the approved and presented maps, Iran-Iraq railway authorities, paid a visit to areas ranging from the border of Shalamcheh, the new passenger platform built at the border of Shalamcheh, the studied route from the border to Arvand River, the lands on both sides of the river and its middle part (Sinbad Island) as well as the construction site of the new Basra railway station.
