New York (IP): Iran's ambassador and Permanent to the United Nations, protesting the negative impacts of unilateral US sanctions on the environment, health and welfare, and life of Iranians, said that Washington should remove all illegal unilateral sanctions against the Iranian people.

Iran PressAmerica: Amir Saeid Iravani said in an objection letter to the UN: After the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the United States has always put the approach of enmity and enmity with the Islamic Republic of Iran at the top of its policy and has followed the policy of imposing sanctions against Iran in the last four decades.

The imposition of anti-Iranian sanctions during the presidency of former US President Donald Trump after withdrawing from the  Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action(JCPOA) and launching the campaign of maximum pressure gained unprecedented momentum.

Washington imposed the most severe sanctions against the Iranian nation in the hope of Iran's submission to the irrational and illegal demands of the United States, which, of course, failed, according to the Biden administration.

In this regard, and according to Iran press report on Thursday, "Amir Saeid Iravani", the ambassador and permanent representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations, sent a letter to "Antonio Guterres", the Secretary-General, and "Csaba Korosi", the President of the United Nations General Assembly, expressing his objections. The Islamic Republic of Iran announced the negative impacts of the unilateral coercive actions of the United States on the environment and the health, well-being, and life of Iranian citizens.

Considering the US sanctions to be contrary to international laws and the United Nations Charter, Iravani considered these measures to be an obstacle to the implementation of environmental, health, and welfare projects of the citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran and added:

"The United States of America has implemented a broad and complex network of illegal and unjust financial economic and trade sanctions against Iran, with the aim of isolating Iran from the financial mechanisms of a number of international environment agreements and imposing secondary sanctions against non-US parties that cooperate with Iran on environmental issues.

In another part of this letter, referring to Iran's environmental challenges, Iravani mentioned the World Health Organization's report on the environmental causes of the deaths of a number of Iranian citizens and emphasized:

"In the light of the foregoing, the United States must lift all illegal unilateral sanctions imposed on Iran that will harmfully impact the environment."
