NATO’s chief said that this organization has seen some signs that China may be planning to support Russia in the conflict in Ukraine, and strongly urged Beijing to desist such a measure.

Iran PressEurope: NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg says the alliance has seen signs that China is considering supplying arms to Russia and warned Beijing against taking any move to provide military assistance to Moscow.

The comments on Thursday came days after US Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned China of consequences if it provided material support to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also told The Associated Press in an interview that the alliance, while not a party to the war, will support Ukraine “for as long as it takes.”

Stoltenberg's claim comes while Dai Bing, China's deputy ambassador to the United Nations, in a speech at the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday, said: "One year after the war in Ukraine, clear facts show that sending weapons does not bring peace."

“It is the US, not China, that has been pouring weapons into the battlefield,” shot back Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin the following day. “The US is in no position to tell China what to do.”

United States President Joe Biden had warned Chinese President Xi Jinping of “consequences” should Beijing offer Moscow “material support” on March 18 last year. 219
