Iran Press/ Iran News: On the eve of the anniversary of the historical uprising of the people of Tabriz on February 18, 1978, (before the Islamic Revolution Victory), on Wednesday morning, Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei received a group of people from East Azerbaijan.
Ayatollah Khamenei in a meeting with the people referred to the presence of the Iranian nation in this year's 22 Bahman rallies, said: "Saturday was a historic day and a historic rally and throughout the country of the people created an epic in the true sense."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution considered 11 February (22 Bahman) this year to be a historic day and said: "People all over the country created an epic in the true sense of the word on this day, and I consider it necessary to pay my respects to the people of Iran".
Recalling that all over the country, in cities and villages, people raised their voices together, which is very valuable, the Leader added: "All propaganda of the oppositions, the provocations of the enemies, were ignored under the influence of the warmth of faith and insight of the Iranian people, and this people's presence in the scene expressed many truths."
The Leader expressed gratitude to the Iranian nation everywhere; from the east of the country to the west of the country, from the north to the south of the country, in the centers of provinces, in big cities such as Tabriz, Isfahan, Mashhad, and other places to villages where everyone raised their voices together, the Iranian nation, and called "these are very valuable".
The Leader noted, "The message of the Iranian nation on 22 Bahman (11 February) was full support for the Islamic Revolution and the Islamic Republic system. It was louder than all voices.
He added: Of course, there are and were opposing voices, and the enemies - the media empire of the world, which is owned by the Zionists and the Americans - try to overcome these voices, but they did not and the voice of the nation prevailed over the voice of others."
Tabriz 1978 uprising, turned the history of Iran
Ayatollah Khamenei elsewhere referred to the uprising of the people of Tabriz on February 18, 1978, and stated, " On February 18, 1978, the history of Iran was turned, that is, it was a decisive moment in history. Well, on January 9, 1978, of the same year, the uprising happened in Qom… there is no doubt that the people of Qom did a great job, they took the initiative. The people of Tabriz turned the Qom uprising into a national uprising, turned it into a public incident, even though the reaction of the Pahlavi regime in suppressing the uprising was much greater in Tabriz."
"The Pahlavi regime was so embarrassed that they brought tanks in the street, and they killed people. But the people of Tabriz did not retreat, Leader reminded and said: "They gave their lives, they gave blood, they stood up, they chanted, they nationalized the cause of the uprising, the voice of their sacrifice reached the whole country, so it became widespread and the cry of the people of Tabriz spread all over Iran.
"Less than a year later, the monarchy's autocratic rule was overturned; History making means this," Ayatollah Khamenei concluded.
