The Russian Foreign Minister said that UN experts do not have the authority to investigate the alleged war crimes committed by the Wagner group in Africa.

Iran PressEurope: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said that UN experts are not empowered to investigate war crimes, whoever may have committed them.

This is how he responded to calls by UN experts for conducting investigations of human rights violations in Mali and their concern about the activities of PMC Wagner in this regard.

"As for some UN experts who are said to be making inquiries into alleged war crimes by the Wagner private military company, I can say that I know nothing about any UN experts empowered to consider any aspects of war crimes, whoever may have committed them," Lavrov told a news conference on Tuesday.

He stressed that only the UN Security Council had such powers.

Earlier, the Associated Press revealed that the United States is increasing pressure on Sudan and Libya to expel the Russian private military company Wagner Group.
