Mrs. KhazAli:

Tehran (IP)- Vice-President for Women and Family Affairs said that today, our women want something more than equality, that is, justice so that they can get points beyond equality.

Iran PressIran News: Ensieh KhazAli, in a speech at the First International Congress for Women of Influence in Tehran, said: "With the victory of the Islamic Revolution (in 1979), Iranian women were able to eradicate illiteracy and growth in various activities. In health, the life expectancy rate increased from 54 years to 78 years."

She also pointed to the success of Iranian women in sports and said: "We all complain about discrimination and inequality. We believe that a woman, despite her special capacities, thinks about something beyond her limits. You all, as educated women, usually believe that in the name of equality, things are imposed on you, which is a sign of injustice."

"In the name of equality and freedom, they cannot exploit women and distance them from their feminine identity," she noted.

"Violence against women should be prevented by establishing laws and promoting culture," noted VP.   

She added: "Our women have now gone beyond people who need support and have become leading and influential women."

Membership or non-membership in the Commission on the Status of Women in the United Nations will never hinder Iranian women's efforts to improve their position in defense of their rights.

According to Ms. KhazAli the program of the meeting; creating an innovation fund, setting up special festivals for women in art and culture, creating a watchdog organization for women's rights and defending justice against them, holding scientific, cultural sports, and artistic Olympiads, as well as producing joint media programs.

The first scientific, cultural, sports, and artistic Olympiads of the Presidential Women's Sports Cup will be held in Nowruz, she underscored.
